Dozens of children and families explored vehicles from Fairfield Police Department, Fairfield Department of Public Works and the Southport Volunteer Fire Department on Sunday, May 20, at a Touch a Truck hosted by Save the Children.

Save the Children will host a Touch a Truck event with vehicles from local fire departments from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.

Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau proclaimed Thursday, May 25 as “Red Nose Day” in recognition of the national charitable campaign benefitting Fairfield-based Save the Children and other charities fighting childhood poverty both in the U.S. and around the world. Tetreau presented the proclamation to Susan Ridge, vice president of Marketing and Communications at Save the Children U.S. headquarters in Fairfield. He was joined by Fairfield Superintendent of Schools Dr. Toni Jones, students from Fairfield Ludlowe High School and Fairfield Warde High School’s Save the Children clubs, and Save the Children staff members.
