Charges have been filed against a Derby man believed to be part of a shoplifting ring targeting, among other places, Home Depot in Fairfield.

Warren Laughner, 41, of Burtville Avenue, Derby, was charged with third-degree larceny and conspiracy.

Laughner was arrested on a warrant while in court on other charges on March 12. He was arraigned on the spot.

Suspects arrested previously provided information that led to Laughner and a storage unit where much of the merchandise was found.

An estimated $3,500 in stolen power tools were attributed to Laughner. He is alleged to have stolen from the Fairfield location as far back as Oct. 28, when two combo kits valued at $500 each went missing.

Video surveillance from one of the thefts helped identify Laughner, police said.
