McKinney to discuss state budget in Stratford

State Senate Minority Leader John McKinney will be in Stratford this week as part of an eight-town “fiscal responsibility tour” to get public comment on Gov. Malloy’s 2014-15 budget proposal.

He will make a stop at the Wooster Middle School auditorium on Thursday, March 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“Over the next two months, there will be a vigorous debate about the direction of our state and particularly its fiscal management,” McKinney said. “I want public input to be at the center of this debate. That’s why I’m hosting this tour.”

“Two years ago, when Gov. Malloy was proud of his budget he went on a statewide tour to promote his vision of ‘shared sacrifice,’” McKinney said. “That vision never materialized. I think it is more important than ever for the legislature and the governor to hear from the people of Connecticut. We need to find a way out of this fiscal crisis together. So, the primary purpose of our tour is to listen and learn.”
