Lancers to play for Class M title

Notre Dame of Fairfield booked a ticket to the Class M girls basketball championship game with a 49-43 victory over Haddam-Killingworth in Wallingford on Monday night.
Coach Eric DeMarco’s second-seeded Lancers (23-3) will play top-seeded Cromwell (24-0) for the title on Friday or Saturday at the Mohegun Sun Arena.
Amber James and Jovan Kingwood scored 11 points each to defeat the third-seeded Cougars (2-6).
Briana Mann had seven points, Aly Furgiuele six, Jerlisa Thomas five and McKenzie Stone, Nakia Mabin and Alexandra Danas scored three points each.
Haddam-Killingworth took a 14-11 lead after one period and took a 25-20 lead into the half. It was still a five-point Cougar lead after three quarters before Notre Dame rallied to finish the game on a 15-4 run.
