Daytime burglary occurs while resident naps

Someone broken into a Black Rock Turpike residence while a resident was upstairs on Thursday, March 7.

The resident told police she took a cold medicine around 2 p.m., went upstairs and slept till about 5:30 p.m. She remained upstairs until 7:30 p.m.

When she returned to the first floor, she found the kitchen slider and an interior garage door both slightly open. Both had been closed when she went upstairs.

Police said they found two half-inch pry marks on the outside of the rear slider.

A black and white plastic purse containing personal papers, credit cards and $300 in cash was taken from the kitchen, as was a 20-inch LCD television worth $150.
