Woman allegedly slaps man in parking lot spat

A Bridgeport woman was issued a summons for breach of peace after she allegedly slapped a man during a dispute in a parking lot in front of the AT&T store on Black Rock Turnpike Thursday, March 7.

According to police reports, a man complained about a tight squeeze while attempting to drive past a car, occupied in a fire lane by 23-year-old Shanica Merced of North Avenue in Bridgeport, and yelled for her to move her car.

The man told police that when he parked, Merced approached him and slapped him on the face through his open window. He then jumped out of his car, searing at Merced, according to police reports.

Officers said there was a fresh red welt below the man’s left eye.

A witness, who was in a business at the scene, reported hearing a commotion and hearing a woman and man yelling at each other through their car windows. The witness told police the woman then walked up to the man’s car and slapped his face.

Merced was issued a summons and is due in court March 14.
