Lancers shot out in playoff opener

The 10th-seeded Notre Dame of Fairfield boys hockey team lost to seventh-seeded Simsbury High, 3-0, in the first round of the Division I tournament on Thursday.
Coach Steve Hetherman Lacers finish 11-10 while 16-6 Simsbury will play second-seeded Notre Dame of West Haven (16-4-1) in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Stone Denbok made 29 saves for Notre Dame, which outshot Simsbury 40-32.
