Notre Dame ousted in overtime

Eighth-seeded Notre Dame of Fairfield lost 84-79 in overtime to ninth-seeded Bloomfield High in a Class M second round boys basketball game in Fairfield on Thursday.
Coach Vin Laczkoski ‘sLancers finish their season at 15-6, while the 16-6 Warhawks will play at top-seeded Northwestern (22-0) in Friday’s quarterfinal round.
Dan Upchurch scored 34 points for Notre Dame, which took a 20-14 lead into the second period and led 35-32 at the half.
The game was tied at 49 after three quarters and Earl Coleman’s layup forged a 69-69 tie in the final period and forced the extra session.
Coleman scored 19 points and Jaylen Jennings scored 17 points.
Upchurch made five 3-pointers, as each team hit seven shots from beyond the arc.
Bloomfield was 15-for-22 from the foul line.
Notre Dame, led by Coleman’s 7-for-9 performance, was 9-for-15 from the stripe.
