Fairfield Prep senior Kevin Culligan has been named a National Merit Scholarship finalist for 2013.

Kevin has been an active contributor to all aspects of school life at Fairfield Prep with his strong academic record, participation in varsity tennis and his  loyalty to the school community. Passionate about politics, he has written articles for Zeitgeist, the school political journal.

He has been a participant and leader on the school freshman and Kairos Retreats and volunteered with the Danbury Grass Roots Tennis program, which provides opportunities for underprivileged children to learn the game of tennis and receive educational support.

As a National Merit Finalist, Kevin is among the top 15,000 PSAT scorers out of 1.5 million test takers in the country. Finalist candidates are judged based on having the strongest combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments and potential for success in rigorous university studies. By the conclusion of the competition, a select group of finalists are chosen to receive National Merit Scholarships totaling nearly $35 million.
