Fairfield school headmaster appointed to CAIS board

FSmunroJohn R. Munro Jr., headmaster of Fairfield Country Day School, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).

CAIS is a voluntary association of nonprofit independent schools serving more than 30,000 students in Connecticut. CAIS is affiliated with National Association of Independent Schools and New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and is a Recognized Accrediting Association in Connecticut. The association brings professional development events to several thousand teachers, administrators, trustees, and students each year.

Munro will bring a wealth of experience as a school administrator to his new position on the CAIS board. Prior to becoming the headmaster at Fairfield Country Day School, he held a myriad of leadership positions, including assistant headmaster and director of the middle school at Nichols School in Buffalo, N.Y., and director of admissions and financial aid at Park Tudor School in Indianapolis, Ind.

Coupled with his education — bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Hamilton College and Wesleyan University — Munro has significant and broad experience in elementary education, and has been praised for his ability to connect with students and earn the respect of his faculty.
