Citizens Bank colleagues recently attended a football game at Southern Connecticut State University to present student Veronica Swain of Fairfield with a $1,000 TruFit Good Citizen Scholarship.

More than 1,000 spectators were in attendance as SCSU President Dr. Mary A. Papazian joined Citizens Bank Education Finance colleagues Erin Zagaski and Brian Gilbert to make the announcement during the game’s half-time festivities.

Created by Citizens Bank in 2011 as a way to recognize and reward students whose volunteer efforts have made a lasting impact in their communities, the scholarship program received more than 5,000 entries this year.

Swain, of Fairfield, stood out for her work as an AmeriCorps volunteer, her urban beautification efforts in the City of Bridgeport and for her work mentoring local youth.

Information about Veronica Swain and other TruFit Scholarship winners can be found at Citizens Bank’s Facebook page (facebook.com/citizensbank).
