Ludlowe excels at FCIAC Central Division Meet

The Fairfield Ludlowe High indoor track and field programs fared well at the FCIAC Central Division Championship Meet in Wilton on Saturday.
The girls team finished in second place behind Ridgefield High..
Highlights for the girls included a first place in the high jump by sophomore Emily O’Keefe, who set a new school record by jumping 5-1.
The Falcons also won both the 4×225 and 4×375 relays, with excellent performances from senior Glenn Carr, juniors Alex Wykoff and Ali Johnson, and sophomores Rachel Hurst and Emma Koether.
The girls also placed second in both the 4×800 and sprint medley relays.
The Ludlowe boys team posted a third-place finish behind Ridgefield and Norwalk on the strength of strong performances from its seniors.
Rob Ficarra won the shot put with a throw of 43-6.5, Brian Peterson won the pole vault with a personal best of 9-6 and Arda Kocturk won the high jump at 5-8.
The Falcons also took blue ribbons in two of the relays, the 4×800 (Peterson, senior AJ Accomando, junior Josh Archer and senior Thomas Carroll) and the sprint medley (junior Kevin Warten, senior Peter Jacobs, senior Sean Smalley and Archer).
Jacobs excelled in the long jump finals to place third with a personal best of 18-9.75.
Next up for the Falcons is the FCIAC Championship Meet on Thursday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven at 4:30 p.m.
