Fairfield restaurants touted as best in state

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced that Connecticut Magazine has selected six Fairfield restaurants as among the best restaurants in the state.

In the February 2013 Best Restaurants issue, Connecticut Magazine ranked Paci Restaurant, Liana’s Trattoria, Pizzeria Molto, Shiki Hana Japanese Bistro, Barcelona Fairfield and Artisan as some of the best places to eat in the state.

“Following the town’s successful first-ever Restaurant Week that was held last October, we are thrilled that some of our finest restaurants continue to be showcased,” Tetreau said. “Fairfield’s restaurant business is booming thanks to an array of quality restaurants that offer a wide variety of dining choices suited for every palate.”

According to the magazine, 89 ballots were sent out last year to “dining out experts” who ranked Connecticut’s best restaurants in 26 categories, including best service, best for families and best breakfast. Each category highlights the top five restaurants along with honorable mentions. Paci Restaurant and Liana’s were among two of the top five best Italian restaurants in the state. Liana’s also received an honorable mention for best desserts.

Among the top five restaurants ranked best appetizers, Pizzeria Molto and Barcelona were chosen. Artisan received top honors for best in hotel dining along with an honorable mention for most romantic dining experience. Shiki Hana Japanese Bistro was chosen among the five best places for best Asian dining.

Three additional Fairfield restaurants received honorable mentions — The Chelsea for best new restaurant; The Stand Juice Company for best vegetarian/vegan place; and Bodega Taco Bar for best value.

“The reviewers at Connecticut Magazine have discovered what many Fairfield residents already know — that Fairfield is truly blessed to have so many quality restaurants from which to choose,” Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart said. “It is easy to see why Fairfield has quickly become a destination of choice for fine dining. I congratulate all of the recipients on this well-deserved recognition.”
