Fairfield resident joins Discovery Museum

Susan D. Ball has joined Discovery Museum and Planetarium as director of Institutional Advancement, a new position.

“We are thrilled to have Susan on board,” Executive Director Jeff Bishop said. “She has a great background for her job.”

Most recently Ball was associate director of Advancement at Greens Farms Academy. Before that she was development officer for the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation before its merger with Fairfield County Community Foundation. She’s also been development director at Pequot Library in Southport, and earlier was a vice president at Simon & Schuster in New York City.

“Best of all,” Bishop said, “she loves Bridgeport and our mission.”

Ball sits on the boards of FSW and the Bridgeport Regional Business Council’s Leadership Greater Bridgeport program, and is a past board member with the Center for Women and Families, all in Bridgeport. She also helps with Neighborhood Revitalization Zone initiatives in the Park City after getting involved through Leadership Greater Bridgeport in 2008.

“I am ecstatic to be helping Discovery blast off to the future in our 50th anniversary year,” Ball said.

She lives in Fairfield and has two college-aged daughters, Grace and Alice Lloyd.

The Discovery Museum and Planetarium, 4450 Park Ave., Bridgeport, promotes science literacy for children and adults through its STEM education programs, its permanent and traveling exhibits, Challenger Learning Center and the Henry B. duPont III Planetarium. Daily admission is $9.50 for adults and $8 for children older than 2, seniors and students with IDs.
