Greenwich edges Warde gymnasts

Although the Fairfield Warde High School gymnastics team kept it close, they fell to Greenwich High School 116.45-114.5 earlier tonight at the Greenwich YWCA.

Greenwich’s Kat McCaffrey was the all-around leader on the day, finishing with a score of 32 and netting three high marks in the process. She also set a season best score on both the vault and floor exercise.

McCaffrey took first in the bars with a score of 8.0 and followed that up with a leading score of 8.15 on the floor. On the beam, McCaffrey was one-half a point better than the next highest finisher, netting a score of 7.8.

Not to be outdone was fellow GHS gymnast Tori Mann, who took second in the all-around with a score of 30.7 and posted a season best in all events.

She finished second on the bars with a score of 7.8 and took third on the beam with a score of 7.1.

Fairfield Warde’s highest finisher was Tori Gallati, who finished third in the all-around and netted a score of 29.1. She tied Greenwich’s Emily Clarke on vault for the silver with a score of 8.2. Warde’s Sophia Mancini was the top finisher on the vault, scoring a 8.3.

Mancini also took second on the beam, picking up a score of 7.3 and just beat out GHS’s Mann, who took home a score of 7.1.

Greenwich had other solid performers on the day. Camille Monette, who got a career best on both the vault and beam, finished with the silver on the floor exercise, picking up a score of 8.1.

Ellen Hebrand scored a 7.6 on the floor, while Alice Statham finished with a 6.0 on the beam. Greenwich teammate Bryony Brock finished the vault with a score of 7.5.

For the Mustangs, Mirstyn Lazor grabbed the bronze in the bars, netting a score of 6.8, while Kathleen Pisciotta took third on the floor with a score of 8.0. Joining Gallati on the vault was Carolyn Tagney, who finished third with a score of 8.1.

Greenwich will be back in action Monday night when they host Fairfield Ludlowe High School at the Greenwich YWCA at 6.
