Fairfield Museum offers free Family Focus Days

The Fairfield Museum is offering two opportunities for free family fun in September on days when schools are closed. The Family Focus days are generously sponsored by People’s United Bank, with thanks to CT Humanities.

On Monday, Sept. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition The Culper Ring: The Spies of George Washington, the theme is “Spy Games.” Recommended for children ages 8 and up, visitors will learn about Washington’s spy ring, figure out cipher codes, find hidden spies in the Museum galleries and discover secret spy treasures!

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition Flappers: Fashion & Freedom, the theme is “Flapper Fashions.” Recommended for children ages 5 and up, this Family Focus day will be all about beads, which were the rage in the 1920s. Guests will use contemporary materials to create beaded necklaces, headbands and other objects related to flapper fashion.
