Connolly receives public campaign funding, plans to reinvest funds into District 133

Fairfield resident and State Representative candidate in District 133 Sally Connolly (R) announced that the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) voted to approve a campaign grant for her candidate committee, Sally Connolly for State Representative.  Connolly is also seeking the endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut.

The Citizens Election Program (CEP) is a clean elections program administered by the State of Connecticut and applies to candidates for all state elected offices. Connolly needed to raise $5,100 from 150 fellow Fairfield residents. Having cleared these thresholds, her campaign recently received an additional $28,150.

“Receiving my CEP grant is a major hurdle to have cleared in my goal to represent families in Fairfield’s 133rd Assembly district,” said Connolly, who announced her candidacy at the end of April.  “I am glad I participated in public financing because CEP is an admirable elections program that dissuades the kind of corruption Connecticut has endured in the past. Plus, now that my fundraising is out of the way, I can devote all of my attention to engaging with voters in my community and discussing the issues that are most important to them.”

“I am eager to promote my vision of a state budget that would finally enable a sustainable future for Connecticut and bring jobs and families back to Fairfield. One small way I can help with this right now is by reinvesting this state grant money into local small businesses,” added Connolly.

During her campaign, Connolly has employed Universal Printing & Mailing Services on Ardmore St. for print materials, Puddle Bear Clothing on Post Rd. for t-shirt design, and Castle on Post for her announcement party. She is also planning a weekly “Spotlight on Small Biz” feature on her Facebook page in order to bring more attention to local business owners in District 133.

Connolly is a lifelong Connecticut resident, mother of four, traditional Irish musician, and nursing home speech-language pathologist in Fairfield.  She is running to represent the 133rd district, which comprises most of the eastern part of Fairfield.
