The Fairfield Little League Softball’s 11U All-Star team defeated Trumbull, 10-6, in the District 2 finals at Unity Park on Saturday.

Fairfield fell behind 2-0 in the best-of-three district final.

It scored one run in the second, took a 5-2 lead in the third, and sent nine batters to the plate in a decisive four-run fourth.

Lauren Foley had a double, two singles, and stole two bases to lead the attack from the No. 2 spot in the batting order.

Ari Kedersha singled home Paige O’Neill, who had singled, in the second.

Foley doubled in the gap to open the third. Izzy Mulhall then drove the ball over the first base bag, and her two-bagger plated Foley to tie the game at 2-all.

Alyssa Russo singled to keep the line moving.

Paige O’Neill’s liner up the middle resulted in a put out at first, as Mulhall scored.

Russo came around on a Kedersha double.

Alex Lewey’s fielder’s choice grounder took the score to 5-2.

Ari Kedersha drove in two runs for Fairfield.

Kelley Monahan, Foley and Mulhall reached base to start the fourth.

Russo singled in two runs and another pair scored on Kedersha’s drive to the outfield.

Trumbull took a 2-0 lead in its first at bat. A couple of walks and a fielder’s choice that didn’t get an out got the rally going.

Becca Sexton hit the ball into right field to bring the second run home.

Her base hit attempt was denied when Maggie Swanson charged the ball and threw her out at first. Russo then whirled and fired to the plate, where Kedersha made the tag for the inning-ending double play.

After Trumbull’s Carolyn Novia reached with one out in the third, Swanson again showed off her arm as she collected Gianna Story’s hit over the first base bag and fired to Foley at shortstop for the force out.

After Caroline Hall was hit by a pitch in the Trumbull third, it was Carol Reis getting to Brianna Buda’s hit to right and going to Foley for the force out.

Fairfield is managed by Jeff Russo. The coaches are Dave Foley and Bill Farrell.

Team members are Maggie Swanson, Lauren Foley, Alyssa Russo, Ari Kedersha, Paige O’Neill, Kelley Monahan, Griffin Paladino, Alex Lewey, Carol Reis, Morgan McGowan, Grace Farrell and Izzy Mulhall.
