United Veterans and DAR hold Fourth of July celebration

A patriotic tradition started 125 years ago will continue once again when the Fairfield United Veterans Organization hosts its annual Independence Day Celebration Wednesday, July 4th on the grounds of Fairfield’s historic Town Green. Co-hosted by the Eunice Dennie Burr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with various speakers from the veterans organization and the town, along with a reading of the Declaration of Independence with a fife and drum intro.

An open house reception will be held immediately following at the Old Academy headquarters. The Town Green is located at the corner of Old Post and Beach roads in downtown Fairfield. All are welcome.
