Kupchick receives GOP nod for state house

Fairfield Republican delegates on Tuesday night said they want Fairfield State Rep. Brenda Kupchick (R-132) to continue fighting for the 132nd House District, which encompasses portions Fairfield and Southport. The convention gave its unanimous endorsement of Brenda Kupchick.

Liz Kuranowitz nominated Kupchick by saying, “Brenda works across the aisle to deliver results for every single member of our community. There’s no person or creature — big or small — who hasn’t benefited from Brenda’s compassion and fierce love of this community and our state. Brenda’s compassion is matched only by her trademark tenacity. There is no fight too big, no cause too small for Brenda’s relentless passion to do what’s right for Fairfield. We need legislators who don’t see compromise as a dirty word, who like Brenda has been willing to work across the aisle to reject the one-size-fits-all approach that has plagued our state Capitol for far too long. We need policy makers like Brenda whose only agenda is to serve the people who elected them, not someone else’s political playbook.”

Long time friend, Bill Domeika seconded the nomination applauding “Brenda’s advocacy and dedication for constituents saying she fights for Fairfield regardless of political party, the people of Fairfield are like family to Brenda. Brenda is a strong tenacious leader in Hartford and always puts Fairfield/Southport first.”

In her acceptance speech Kupchick said, “I first decided to run for local office because I was tired of politicians ignoring the voices of my friends and neighbors.  I’ve seen first hand how an entrenched majority in Hartford has ignored the voices of people in Fairfield and across the state.”

“As a lifelong Fairfield resident, I have a deep love for our town and state, but Connecticut’s government has lost its way. I have tried to earn the confidence shown in me by working hard to represent our community by listening and learning and leading on issues important to Fairfield and fight against polices our community opposes. It’s my absolute honor to represent my hometown.”

Kupchick is currently a member of the legislature’s committees on Finance Revenue & Bonding, General Law, is the House Ranking (lead) member of the Housing Committee and is a Caucus Whip.

Kupchick and her husband, Peter have one adult son Peter, daughter in law Juliana and two rescue beagles. Peter and Brenda own and operate Peter Kupchick Heating & Cooling in Fairfield.
