Audubon Society celebrates CT Trails Day

Families are invited to The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield on Saturday, June 2 for a free, one-hour nature walk from 1 to 2 p.m. This is one of 250 statewide hiking events celebrating the 2018 Connecticut Trails Weekend and the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day.

The guided walk through the Larsen Sanctuary includes exploration of ponds, garden marsh, temperate deciduous forest, meadow and swamp, and observe bird habitats. While viewing ecological points of interest, learn about efforts to conserve and protect them. The terrain is easy to moderate.

In addition to the walk, participants will receive 10% off all purchases in the Center’s Nature Store.

The Center at Fairfield is located at 2325 Burr Street in Fairfield. Advance registration is required. Call 203-259-6305, ext. 109 or visit ctaudubon.org/fairfield-programs-events/ to reserve a spot.

National Trails Day is a nationwide hiking initiative to encourage the public and outdoor enthusiasts to seek out their favorite trails while participating in numerous events held in each state. View the complete list of 2018 state events at: www.ctwoodlands.org/ct-trails-weekend.
