Michelle Lapine McCabe received the unanimous endorsement as the Democratic Candidate for the 28th Senatorial District. McCabe initiated her campaign committee on April 14, 2018 and has already met the fundraising requirements in order to qualify for the the Citizens Elections Program (CEP). Michelle was born and raised in Connecticut and has lived in Fairfield with her three sons for the past fourteen years.

Michelle stated, “I am humbled by the outpouring of support that this campaign has been shown since announcing my intentions to run for the 28th Senatorial District. I am eager to work hard on behalf of our district and our state. Connecticut has a history of being the first — our state had the first public library, the first newspaper, the first constitution, the first amusement park, the first football game, and more. It is time for us to reclaim our national position as innovators and I believe that we need candidates like myself with new perspectives and experience to improve our economy and our infrastructure.”

Michelle has spent much of her working life in public service and is currently the Director of the Center for Food Equity and Economic Development with the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport. “I believe my experience on the ground will provide a critical point of view to ensure our state government works for all of us.”

Mike Tetreau stated, “I’ve spoken with Michelle extensively about the needs of municipalities and how critical it is that our elected officials in Hartford listen to those of us on the ground back in the district. I am confident that Michelle will bring our voice to Hartford and work collaboratively in the best interest of our community.”

Eric Paradis, chair of the Newtown Democratic Committee, nominated Michelle by saying, “We are at a crossroads in CT. We need someone in the State Senate who can drive us down the right path, a path of equality for all our residents, a path that leads us to a CT where everyone is treated fairly, where children can go to good schools with only hunger for learning and a better life.We need someone who can stand up for all of us. Someone who knows that what is right isn’t always the easier path. Someone who has the experience connecting public policy to families throughout the state. Someone who knows how to transform legislation into action. Someone who has delivered, not just meals and nutrition, but hope and opportunity in the dark. That person is Michelle McCabe.”

Michelle is looking forward to spending time throughout the district and is launching a series of events in each of the five towns (Fairfield, Newtown, Easton, Westport and Weston) that make up the district. Michelle urged voters to share their concerns and their hopes with her. “I want to hear from you. Don’t be surprised when I show up at your door or in your local coffee shop. This campaign is about the people who live in this district. Let’s get to work.”
