Fairfield ski teams eye title

The Fairfield Coop boys and girls ski team are getting ready for the 2013 ski season.  Under the coaching of Gary Quiricone, Rick Quiricone and Tom Mason, the team has been conducting dryland practice sessions and preparing the team for the upcoming race season. The boys team is looking strong and hopes to defend their state championship title. Returning to the boys squad are All State team members Kyle Mason, Jack Cusick and Ben Hawthorne. Last year these three boys finished first, second and fifth, respectively in the state finals giant slalom race that included over 100 boys.  In addition, Bob Mitchell, Hamish Dewar, Matt Chan and Davey Hawthorne will be returning to defend the state championship title. The girls were 2012 Connecticut runnersup. They are in excellent position with returning members of the All State team that includes Sarah Mason, Kelsey Tague and Sidney Burton. Last year the girls had a perfect season of 14-0 losses, but narrowly lost the state championship to Westport-Staples by less than four seconds. The girls team has returning members that include Danielle Fisher, Flossie Dewar, Meagan O’Hare, Ana Wyckoff and Eliza Wiant.
