FUSA girls No. 1

Team members are goalkeepers Mia Cristodero and Hazel Handler; defenders Avery Faucher, Ella Knisely, Maren Burns, Emily Belkin, Cambell Rosow and Meg Barnouw; midfielders Ryan Manning, Katie Fitzgerald, Emma Lawlor, Elena Ohe, and Sarah Wallace; and forwards: Samantha Matturro, Sydney Mieczkowski, Caroline Clarke, and Kaylee Elinskas. The team is coached by Danilo Martins.

The Fairfield United Soccer Association 2005 girls team, currently playing at the Division I EDP League-Division 1, is ranked No. 1 by GotSoccer.

“Being ranked number one in the state of Connecticut says a lot about this group and the FUSA program in different aspects,” coach Danilo Martins said.

“While the majority of the top ranked teams are considered “regional” (pulling players from multiple towns), FUSA teams are composed of Fairfield residents only, and that makes this achievement even more special.

“Friends who go to school together, share the same passion for the game, and of course, have fun playing top quality soccer. At this time, there are other four FUSA teams ranked top 10 in the state.”
