Fairfield Museum’s Day To Night Gala, picture perfect

JENNINGS BEACH, FAIRFIELD, DAY TO NIGHT was unveiled at the Fairfield Museum’s Gala Preview Party on Saturday, April 28. More than 200 people attended the event, which was chaired by Fairfield residents Jen Hinkle and Sylvia Neigher, and raised crucial funds to support the Museum’s education programs.

Guests enjoyed international hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Matt Storch of Match Restaurant, Match Burger Lobster and NOM EEZ as well as live music by Chris Coogan. Storch recently competed on, and won, the Food Network show Chopped, and he also donated two culinary experiences to the Museum’s live auction.

Other live auction items included a signed reproduction of the Wilkes photo and an evening with Stephen and Bette Wilkes. In addition, guests raised their paddles to sponsor field trips to the Museum for students from underserved schools. Cocktails were provided by Litchfield Distillery and wine was donated by Josh Cellars. Guests were treated to chocolate from BE Chocolat at the party’s end.

The gala was sponsored by Brody Wilkinson PC, Roland & Co., Friends of Marcia Saft and the Kleban and Roberts Families. Others who supported the event by donating auction items were Adorn Accessories, Bonafide Interiors, Butternut Gardens, Coreen’s Bridge Floral Shop, Fairfield Theatre Company, FitCycle, Five Oaks Landscaping, HAIR, John Herzog, Hansen’s Flower Shop, kellydesigns, Mike and Karen Mitri, Mo’s Wine & Spirits, Oliver Nurseries, Julie Stauffer, Tequila Revolucion, Vineyard Vines, WB Mason and Carrie Wilcox Floral Design.

Wilkes, of Westport, is renowned for his “Day to Night” works, in which he shoots landscapes, portrayed from a fixed camera angle for up to 30 hours to capture fleeting moments over the course of a full day to night. An exhibition of these widely recognized photographs will be on view at the Fairfield Museum through June 3.

JENNINGS BEACH, FAIRFIELD, DAY TO NIGHT was commissioned by the Saft family in memory of Marcia Saft, a longtime supporter of the Fairfield Museum. The photograph will become a part of the Museum’s permanent collection. Exclusive limited edition fine art reproductions, posters, notecards and postcards are now available in the Museum Shop.

The event committee also included Sandy Altieri, Betsy Auray, Lisa Callahan, Sally Cummings, Amy Desel, Elizabeth Fath, Ann Franzen, Ellen Gould, Joyce Hergenhan, Andrea Hoffman, Sharon Lauer, Jill Littig, Catherine Mackay, Missy Palmisano, Robin Phillips, Georgiana Platt, Karen Sanger, Finley Shaw, Kim Smith, Patti Spaght, Denise Stone, Anna Taylor, Gay Tice, Polly Tucker and Bette Wilkes.
