The next presentation of the Fairfield Happiness Club is “How to stay happy in a crazy world,” by Steven Gottlieb Thursday, May 17, from 7-8:45 p.m., at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Is your ability to be happy being controlled by outside circumstances that you have no control over? In this presentation you will learn more about how our perceptions of world events control our happiness and what you can do to minimize our negative responses to stress. What appears as troubling times is affecting you at the level of your nervous system where your fight or flight reflexes control the stress you experience. This stress robs you of your capacities to remain happy despite any attempts you make to rationalize your views, or to remain positive.

The primary focus of his work is helping people understand the workings of our mind and how trauma and stress impacts our innate capacities to live a meaningful life with purpose and joy.

Everyone is welcome; admission is free.
