Vertigo, dizziness and balance focus of free talk

Tamara Petrazzi, physical therapist and vestibular specialist with Bridgeport Hospital’s Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers, will discuss vertigo, dizziness and balance issues on Wednesday, April 25, at 10 a.m., at Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, 100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield. The event is free but registration is required by calling 888-357-2396 or visiting bridgeporthospital.org/events.

Petrazzi will discuss the differences between vertigo, imbalance and lightheadedness, and focus on available treatments and exercises that can help each of these conditions.

Falls are a widespread and potentially life-threatening problem for seniors. This talk will help explain why falls occur and how people can obtain help to help prevent falls. Included in the presentation will be a demonstration of three types of exercises that can be done at home to help treat vertigo.

Seniors, caregivers and family members are welcome to attend this program.  Members of the center who live in Fairfield may request bus transportation by calling 203-256-3168 at least one week before the talk. The Bigelow Center is accessible to people using assistive devices.
