Sponsors help Rose of Hope Luncheon bloom

Sponsors helped make this year’s annual Rose of Hope Luncheon a record-breaking success. The luncheon, held in June at the estate of Patti and Tom Keegan in Greenfield Hill, drew more than 500 people and raised $302,000. The proceeds will help the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center provide screening, diagnostic and other services to women in need, including those without sufficient health insurance coverage.

“We are fortunate to have so many committed supporters and friends,” Dr. Donna Twist, executive director of the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, said. “Their generosity ensures that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of women and their families.”

People’s United Wealth Management served as lead corporate sponsor of the Rose of Hope Luncheon for the fifth year. The bank has been lead sponsor of an event every year since the center was founded.

First Niagara Bank became the major corporate sponsor of the reception preceding the luncheon for the first time this year.

Both organizations are interested in partnering with organizations that promote the health and well being of the community and provide services for those in need. Through sponsorships and grants to organizations like the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, they aim to build strong communities where people have access to fundamental health and other services, according to a press release.

“We’re overwhelmed by their generosity,” Twist aid. “It will help ensure the continuation of important breast cancer services to women and their families.”

Part of Bridgeport Hospital and the Yale-New Haven Health System, the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has served more than 20,000 women and their families since it was established in 1999. One of only 200 sites accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), the center provides diagnostic care and treatment at its Bridgeport Hospital and Fairfield locations, including medical oncology, surgical and chemotherapy services, plastic surgery, mammography and radiation therapy, and genetic risk assessment as well as opportunities to participate in clinical trials.

The Breast Care Center office at 111 Beach Road in Fairfield also provides comprehensive women’s wellness services, including nutrition counseling, massage and Reiki therapy, wig and prosthesis fitting, counseling, yoga, Pilates, naturopathic medicine, and other patient support activities.

The center has a satellite office on Park Avenue in Trumbull.

The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center is a member of the National Consortium of Breast Care Centers.
