The Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, 100 Mona Terrace Fairfield, will present J. Aaron Graham, who will talk about counterfeit drugs and how they are threatening patient safety and public health Wednesday, April 19, at 9 a.m.

There are many rogue internet pharmacies that sell so called “branded” and generic drugs at much lower prices than the local drugstore. These are called counterfeit drugs and they are threatening patient safety and public health. Many people don’t realize they are getting fake drugs, which may have no therapeutic value or can cause a serious adverse reaction or even death. These drugs are also being sold from the backroom of stores and bodega’s in Connecticut.

Graham is formerly a special agent and undercover operator for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and subsequently served as a senior special agent for the FDA Office of Criminal Investigations where he directed undercover investigations targeting global prescription drug trafficking organizations.

There is no charge for this program. People working in social services, healthcare and emergency management from all towns are urged to attend. Adults and seniors also are welcome. Advance registration is required by calling 203-256-3166.
