Bigelow Center hosts Fairfield Mental Health Network meeting

Bigelow Center, 100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield will host a professional Mental Health Network meeting on Thursday, March 29, from 8-9 a.m. The purpose of this meeting is to follow up with the 2017 annual Mental Health Breakfast and to form Fairfield’s Mental Health Network, as a new, informal community resource. Jennifer Barahona’s presentation last fall led to the request for this spring follow up based on a proposed best practice for a collaborative and preventive community mental health network resource.

“The Mental Health Network, will serve the Fairfield community by strengthening collaboration and communication with a greater understanding and face to face relationships of valued mental health partners,” said Teresa Giegengack, director of Human Services.

The Mental Health Network will support the Fairfield community by offering current local agency partnerships an enhanced knowledge and understanding of each other’s existing resources. The Mental Health Network will include mental health providers and professionals who live or work in Fairfield.

Fairfield resident, Jennifer Barahona, LCSW, executive director of the Newtown-Sandy Hook Community Foundation, will help facilitate the meeting. To see Barahona’s Five Year Retrospective Report, released February 2018, visit nshcf.org.
