McCarthy Vahey seeks to represent Fairfield in a third term

Cristin McCarthy Vahey, State Representative for Fairfield’s 133rd Assembly District, announced today that she will seek re-election this fall. McCarthy Vahey, first elected in 2014, is seeking a third term. She is currently the General Assembly’s majority caucus chairwoman, serving on the state’s Education, Government Administration & Elections and Transportation committees.

McCarthy Vahey also serves on the state’s permanent Commission on Economic Competitiveness, which brings together stakeholders representing diverse sectors to promote economic growth and enhance Connecticut’s competitiveness.

“My priorities are to create job opportunities for the residents of Fairfield, invest in the education of our students and future workers and develop realistic, long-term solutions to the fiscal challenges we face” stated Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey. “I have advocated for legislation that helps small businesses thrive, improves the state’s workforce development system and equips students, workers, families and seniors with the tools they need to succeed. I will continue to be that voice when re-elected,” she added.

McCarthy Vahey has already received endorsements from many state and local leaders including U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, Congressman Jim Himes, Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau and Selectman Kevin Kiley.

When endorsing Cristin McCarthy Vahey, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn, stated “Cristin McCarthy Vahey is a powerful voice for women, children, small business owners, immigrants, seniors and educators. She never loses sight of the big picture even as she recognizes the complex challenges of government. She has the experience, independence and vision we need.”

“Cristin McCarthy Vahey is a dedicated person who rolls up her sleeves and works tirelessly, bringing forth innovations and solutions to help the people of Fairfield and our state,” said U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, D-Conn. Our state leaders have recognized her strengths by appointing her to help train new legislators, facilitate cooperation within the assembly and work on developing incentives for economic growth. It is both my honor and my pleasure to endorse Cristin’s re-election,” he added.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn, supports her re-election as well, stating, “Cristin is a diligent, dedicated representative, serving with integrity and compassion. She works collaboratively in a bipartisan manner to help protect important civil rights and further social and economic equity.”

McCarthy Vahey lives in the Stratfield neighborhood of Fairfield along with her husband, Brian, and three children. She has qualified for participation in the state’s Citizens’ Election Program.
