The Mustangs advanced eight wrestlers to next weekend’s State Open in New Haven

Kris Gjinaj won the 152-pound title with a 6-2 victory over Ridgefield’s Lazar Agoey. Seeded seventh, Gjinaj had a first-period takedown and a second-period escape to lead 3-2 going into the final frame. The senior was awarded an escape and added the title-clinching takedown with 32 seconds remaining.

Zuckerman had four pins in states, including a win by fall over Ridgefield’s second-seeded Sean Preston. It was 2-1 Warde when the senior turned the Tiger with just over a minute remaining before getting the pin call at 3:05.
