Football: Chris Sadler steps down at Notre Dame

Chris Sadler, head football coach at Notre Dame-Fairfield has resigned from his position due to family commitments.

Sadler met with his team on Thursday afternoon to inform them of his decision. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

“It has been an honor being the head football coach at Notre Dame of Fairfield and I have put in a lot of hours, with the help of my assistant coaches, turning around the culture of ND football, Sadler said.

“But I think it is time to take that focus and put it back on my family. I hope over the past three seasons I have helped the football players at Notre Dame grow as young men and improve as athletes. I will miss the players and being around the game, but look forward to spending more time in the fall with my daughter Caroline and son C.J.

“I want to thank Rob Bleggi, Jim Olayos, and Chris Cipriano for the trust they had in me and their support during my time at Notre Dame. I wish Notre Dame and the student-athletes good luck in the future.”

Athletic Director Bleggi said, “Chris has done a fantastic job these past three seasons and along with his assistant coaches has put ND football on the right track. I am very appreciative of his hard work and dedication he has shown turning around the ND football culture. I understand and respect his decision he has made and wish him and his family only the best in the future.”

Principal Cipriano, “I would like to personally thank Chris for all he has done for our football program as our head coach. His efforts have undoubtedly put ND football back on the map. He has made our student-athletes not only better football players, but more importantly better young men. I wish him and his family good luck in the future.”
