Wrestling: Fairfield Warde defeats town rival Ludlowe

Fairfield Warde wore their two piece uniform, which was approved by the HS federation this season.

The Fairfield Warde wrestling team defeated Fairfield Ludlowe, 50-22, on Wednesday.

Ranked fourth in Connecticut Wrestling Online’s Top 10 high school wrestling poll, coach Jason Shaughnessy’s Mustangs won 10 of the 14 bouts.

“The highlight was senior Anthony Zarlenga defeating Ludlowe senior  Zach Taylor (3:43 fall at 145 pounds) in a battle of top wrestlers,” Shaughnessy reported. “The second highlight was junior Alec Nardone tieing the state record for quickest fall with a a four-second pin at heavyweight.”

Warde has won two tournaments this season: the Guilford and Warde Invitationals.
