Santa thanks community

To the Editor:

I’m terribly busy at this time of the year, making lists and checking them twice, however, I do want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who volunteered and others who welcomed me so warmly when I arrived on Sherman Green last Saturday, Nov. 24.

It was great to have pretty high school girls handling the horse and buggy sales. The group included Taylor Passios, Emma Reid, Katherine Montanex, Rachel Shannon, Eve Marks and Meghan McElwee. Nicholas Mears, the only guy among the maidens, was also on hand to help.

Isabelle Morse, Brooke Jones, Brian Everard and Sean Owen were the most wonderful elves any Santa could ever ask for. Almost 500 plush toys were dispensed thanks to the generosity of Hansen’s Flower Shop.

Thanks also to Chief of Police Gary McNamara for keeping traffic away from the horse and to Fire Chief Richard Felner for giving me a lift. And let’s face it, the DPW helped, too, by delivering barricades, tables and other equipment, checking the sound system and cleaning up the Green at the close of the event.

Matt Szondy of Abbey Tent and Party Rentals and his helper got all the equipment over to the Green and back again. We could not have done it without them. Lee Passios, what can I say? You are always there for me.

The day would not have been complete without all the folks that came out to dispense information and sell products to benefit either their own organizations or to give the proceeds to the charity of their choice.

And Joe Skarupa, no one does it better than you. Thank you, thank you for your wonderful and entertaining impersonation of me. Doug Wright and Heather Ogletree of BizzBuzzTV… we can’t wait to see the video results for the event.

And now it’s back to the North Pole on the Polar Express. May all your prayers be answered and your holidays filled with good cheer.
