Fairfield Santa Fun Run Dec. 16

The third annual Fairfield Santa Fun Run, a free family oriented 1.5 mile “run” will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, beginning at the Sherman Green, 1450 Post Road and ending at Horseshoe Cafe, 355 Pequot Avenue.

Come dressed in your best Santa, Elf, or Christmas costume to run, jog, and even walk through downtown Fairfield via the Post Road. Registration and the singing of Christmas carols begins at 10:30 a.m. and the run begins at 11 a.m.

“We decided in 2014 that we wanted to start an annual community event for local families and friends to do something fun and active to celebrate Christmas time that had nothing to do with packages, boxes or bags,” said Robert O’Boyle, event coordinator.

The race continues to grow annual and this year the run is expected to break 150 participants.

The event is free, but runners are encouraged to bring canned goods that will be dropped off at Operation Hope and to bring some spending cash for the post-race festivities.

Race winners will be recognized in more than four categories, awards will be given to the best dressed and all participants will be eligible for the many raffle prizes donated by local businesses. The post-race party will begin at the Horseshoe when all runners finish.

For questions about the race, contact Robert O’Boyle at 917-297-1985 or via The Facebook at Fairfield Santa Fun Run.
