Storm knocks out power in Fairfield

Sunday night’s storm has left some in Fairfield without power.

United Illuminating reports four incidents around town, affecting 1,674 homes and businesses, or slightly less than 7% of the town.

Most of those without power, 1,564, are related to one incident. UI reports that a crew has been dispatched and estimates power will be restored by 1 a.m. Monday.

The area is under a high wind warning until Monday morning, with the National Weather Service forecasting southwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 65 miles per hour. Heavy rains are expected overnight, with coastal flood watches in effect.
