“The bipartisan vote for a balanced budget protects our towns from devastating cuts, maintains essential social services, and invests in our businesses and economy.

This proposal restores education aid for Fairfield that was eliminated under the executive order.  I fought hard to ensure that the distributions of education cost sharing funds, excess cost reimbursements for special education, and municipal aid treat our town fairly.

Ending the budget stalemate is a critical step in strengthening Connecticut’s fiscal stability, but our work doesn’t stop here. I remain focused on creating the vibrant economy that will support our residents, municipalities, and businesses.  The legislature’s passage of a consensus agreement sends a strong message that we can and will work together across party lines to move Connecticut forward.”

State Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey (D-Fairfield)
