Supports RTM candidate Lauren Bove

To the Editor:

Please join me in supporting RTM candidate Lauren Bove on November 7, as well as current RTM members Mark McDermott, Jill Vergara and Karen Wackerman.

Lauren will be an outstanding representative. She is a thoughtful, independent-minded and intelligent business woman, who has stood up for her children’s needs, challenged assessments, supported neighbors and offered concern and care for the area’s elderly.

Particularly notable was when unmitigated floodwaters threatened damage to our neighborhood. She spearheaded a local group of neighbors that met with town engineers and public works, which ultimately found a network of drains that were in dire need of cleaning. A new policy of maintenance and preventative measures has ensured our properties are no longer subject to the water damage of the past.

As an educator at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, I also speak out of a concern for the future of education in town — and ultimately our home values as well. The continued threats to the education budget are worrisome. In Fairfield, we pay less for education per child than towns we like to compare ourselves to—Westport, Weston etc.

I am heartened to hear Lauren affirm her support for conscientious fiscal policy so everyone can afford to live in Fairfield, while preserving a vibrant school system and the quality services as Fairfielders and those we all expect when we move to Fairfield.

Lauren is a hard worker, committed to supporting practical solutions to Fairfield’s complex issues with compassion, facts and intelligence.
