Halloween on the Green returns to Fairfield Museum

Halloween on the Green will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29, from noon-4 p.m., at Fairfield Museum & History Center, 370 Beach Road.

This family event, presented by the Fairfield Museum and the Town of Fairfield, will feature trick-or-treating, giveaways, performances, parades, food trucks, bounce houses, games, crafts, activities and more. Halloween displays will be set up in the historic buildings on the Museum Commons (Victorian Cottage, Sun Tavern and Old Academy Schoolhouse) as the entire area will be transformed into a Halloween village.

This marks the second year of the re-located Halloween on the Green event (formerly known as “Trick or Treat on Safety Street.”) “The response last year was overwhelming!” said Christine Jewell, Fairfield Museum’s director of education and community programs. “Thousands of people came to the event dressed up in an amazing array of fun, creative, goofy and creepy costumes.”

Dozens of community organizations will be involved in the event, with many businesses and nonprofit groups helping decorate the historic buildings and setting up booths featuring games, activities and giveaways. Event sponsors this year include Gymnastics and Cheerleading Academy, Junkluggers, Rockin’ Jump, Fairfield Parks & Recreation, Dojo Fairfield, Kempo Academy of Martial Arts, Kids First Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, Knights of Columbus Council 2616 & Father Coleman Foundation of Fairfield, Inc., Magic Beans, Rotary Club of Fairfield, Southport Chiropractic, Willows Pediatric Group, TownVibe and WEBE108.

“We are fortunate to have the support from so many local businesses. With their participation, this is sure to be a fantastic event for families,” said Shana Wiswell, director of development at the Fairfield Museum.

In addition to the activities, there will be food trucks on site featuring Bodega Taco Bar, Caribe Soul, Fire Engine Pizza, Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes, The Local Meatball, Melt Mobile, Super Duper Weenie and Szabo’s Seafood.

Some highlights of the day include performances by the Gymnastics & Cheerleading Academy of Connecticut and a costume parade at 12:30 p.m. (Participants for the costume parade should line up behind the Burr Mansion.)

Halloween on the Green will take place on the Museum Commons, between the Fairfield Museum and Old Town Hall. The space is closed to traffic. Parking will be on Old Post Road, Beach Road and at Roger Sherman Elementary School. For more information, visit Fairfieldhistory.org or call 203-259-1598.
