Hundreds attend solar eclipse viewing

Enthusiastic sky watchers of all ages came to the Fairfield Woods Branch Library for a Solar Eclipse Party on Monday, Aug. 21.

Participants viewed the eclipse at the field behind the Library at Fairfield Woods Middle School. The Library distributed NASA-approved eclipse viewing glasses at the event. Children made solar eclipse flip books that created a simple animation of an eclipse, made eclipse bracelets with glow-in-the-dark beads and predicted the eclipse corona using black paper and chalk. All marveled at this natural wonder.

The Fairfield Public Library received a [email protected] Library grant this spring from the American Library Association, one of 75 libraries chosen from more than 500 applicants and the only Connecticut Library selected.

More than 700 people attended the solar eclipse viewing party at the Fairfield Woods Branch on Monday.
