Taekwondo stars at Nationals

World Champion Taekwondo Connecticut students exceled at the National Championships in Dallas, Texas, from June 28 to July 4.

Kerol Pena (red belt 18-29) won gold in form and breaking; Brian Meagher (green belt 10-11) took bronze in form and participated in breaking and weapons; and Kenny Hine (green belt 10-11) won gold in breaking and participated in form and weapons.

Aven Williams (red belt 10-11) won gold in breaking and participated in form; Daisy Johnson (red belt 12-13) took silver in breaking and bronze in weapons and participated in form.

MarcAnthony Garcia (green belt 10-11) took bronze in breaking and participated in form and sparring; Kevin Coronel (blue belt 14-17) took bronze in breaking and participated in form; Mariana Mangini (blue belt 14-17) took bronze in breaking and participated in form; and Clayton Johnson (green belt 8-9) took bronze in breaking and participate in form.

Mathieu Freeman (black belt 12-14) was fourth in breaking and eighth in form.

Maddie Lesko (blue belt 14-17) took bronze in form, and fifth place in breaking; Kiran Bomma (red belt 14-17) was seventh in breaking.

Christopher Altovilla (red belt 14-17) won gold in breaking and bronze in form; Sophia Campbell (blue belt 11-13) took bronze in form; and Ethan Piazza (blue belt 9-10) took bronze in breaking.

Maxwell Dragan (black 10-11) won gold in breaking; and Isabella Tufaro and Laszio Benedek (red belt 10-11) and AJ Tampellini (black (12-13) participated.

Nina Klug (red belt 8-10) took silver in sparring; James Keefer took silver in breaking; and Lalo Farro took bronze in sparring.
