Southport history walk July 22

A walking history tour through Southport is set for Saturday, July 22, at 9:30 a.m., leaving from the steps of Pequot Library. The tour will highlight local history covering the early 17th century English colonial period; the community’s growth as a regional hub for shipping onions and manufacturing and modern day transitions tied to the arrival of the New Haven railroad.

The 1.5 mile, 90-minute tour is sponsored by the Fairfield Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and the Fairfield Museum and History Center.

It is open to the first 30 people who register at fairfieldhistory.org/event/southport-walking-tour/
