Fairfield Memorial Day Parade Monday, May 29

Fairfield will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m., rain or shine.

This year’s parade will commemorate the First Gulf War.

The master of ceremonies will be Probate Judge Daniel F. Caruso.

The parade chairman is Ronald Drew, commander of American Legion Post 143.

The first call to assembly will sound at 9 a.m., with the parade stepping off at 10 a.m. Click here for the order of march.

The parade will travel east from South Pine Creek Road along the Post Road to the Fairfield Library, turn south along Old Post Road to Flint’s Corner, then east along Old Post Road, passing the Town Green and continuing beyond South Benson Road.

No traffic will be permitted along the parade route beginning at 9:30 a.m. No through traffic will be permitted on South Pine Creek Road after 9 a.m. Expect delays and plan an alternate route if not attending the parade, according to Fairfield Police and parade organizers.

No parking will be permitted along the parade route. Temporary “No Parking” signs are being placed around the route (South Pine Creek Road to Bungalow Avenue, the east side of Reef Road from Oldfield Road to Crescent Road, South Pine Creek Road from St. Anthony’s Church to Post Road.

Parade goers may begin placing chairs and blankets along the parade route to reserve space Sunday morning.

There is no rain date. Any cancellation will be posted at fairfield-sun.com.


The parade will be followed by ceremonies on the Town Hall green.

The Fairfield Warde High School band will play the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful.

The Rev. Margaret Hodgkins, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, will deliver the invocation.

Marine Lt. Col. Thomas Armas is the guest speaker.

The Rev. Kevin Olds, rector of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, will deliver the benediction.
