The Fairfield Happiness Club’s next presentation is “If You Really Want To Be Happy Use Your Head — And Get Off Your “But,” by Rev. Edward D. Hendricks, PhD on Thursday, April 20, from 7-8:45 p.m., at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, Fairfield.

Happiness is not an absence of worries, happiness stems from the ability to see and to turn worries and stressors into opportunities rather than obstacles. “Happy people” are not immune to negative emotions, but they have learned to process these emotions differently, and are willing to take action to deal with the causes and effects of the emotions in positive ways.

“Hakuna matata” is a Swahili phrase; roughly translated, it means “no worries.” It was also used as the title of a popular song used in Walt Disney’s wildly popular Lion King franchise. “No worries,” oh if only it were that easy. If you’re human you’re bound to have worries. This insightful, humorous and challenging presentation by noted speaker, Pastor and PhD, Edward D. Hendricks, may not make you a happier person, but you will learn some tools and techniques you can apply to become a happier person. If you’re ready to begin the journey to happiness this event will point you in the right direction.

Dr. Edward D. Hendricks holds a PhD in Adult and Post-Secondary Education and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. He is an ordained nondenominational minister and the founding Pastor of Evergreen Community Church in Seymour, Connecticut, a church that began in his home in 2016. He was president & CEO of an international trade organization, a small business owner, a professional speaker, and prior to retiring in 2014, was a college professor at Sacred Heart University.
