Boy Scout Troop 82 celebrates new Eagle Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 82, operating out of The First Congregational Church in Fairfield, recently celebrated the advancement of two new Eagle Scouts. Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Boy Scout can achieve. Jack Agonis, a senior at Fairfield Warde High School, and Chris Lukas, a senior at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, were awarded Scouting’s highest rank at the Court of Honor held on Saturday, March 25th at the Fayerweather Yacht Club in Bridgeport.

In order to achieve the rank of Eagle, each Scout had to earn a minimum of 21 Merit Badges and show extensive leadership within their Boy Scout Troop and within their community by planning, developing and completing a community project. Jack’s project involved the development of a mobile application (app) that allowed visitors to Fairfield’s Olde Burying Ground to locate the graves of prominent citizens as well as provide detailed biographies and videos about their lives. For Chris’ project, he designed and installed a large playground graphic that allowed for a new game of his design that was accessible to all students including those with special needs.

With this latest rank advancement, Troop 82’s Eagle Scouts now count 126 since the Troop was founded in 1928.

Troop 82 is a nationally recognized member of Boy Scouts of America (BSA), and has been an active Boy Scout Troop since the 1920’s at The First Church Congregational in Fairfield. Troop 82 believes in learning while having fun. Troop 82 Scouts learn to be better American citizens, to develop the mental and physical skills needed for growth, and to follow a set of Scouting principles which build character and nurture personal values. Troop 82 meets every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at The First Congregational Church on Beach Road in Fairfield and holds an open enrollment policy.
