CT Audubon Society offers Junior Animal Care Keepers class

The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield, 2325 Burr Street will hold a Junior Animal Care Keepers class for students in grades 6 and 7 on Wednesdays, 3:30-5 p.m., through May 24 (no class April 12).

The eight-week class provides students with the opportunity to join staff in caring for and studying the resident non-releasable animals who call the Center at Fairfield their home.

This program provides an overview of the live animal collection including reptiles, amphibians, birds and invertebrates. From glamorous to gross, students learn about animal husbandry care, prepare and serve individualized food, and ensure all animals have a clean and healthy living environment. At the end of the course each participant will receive a certificate of completion.

Program fee for the 8-week series: $84/person for CAS members; $112/person for non-members.

All proceeds support The Connecticut Audubon Society’s conservation and environmental education programs.
