Bigelow Tea president speaks at Lifelong Learners event

On Tuesday, March 21, Bigelow Center for Senior Activities was host to a group of 50 Lifelong Learners who were treated to Lessons My Father Taught Me, presented by guest speaker Cindi Bigelow, third generation president & CEO of family-owned Bigelow Tea, based in Fairfield.

In addition to giving a brief primer on the various types of tea, Bigelow shared a brief history of her company and provided insights into the family values that continue to shape the company’s corporate culture and her passion for community involvement.

The talk, followed by questions and answers, was part of the Center’s ongoing Lifelong Learners’ series that takes place at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities in partnership with Sacred Heart University.

An a la carte menu of courses are offered September through June. Although a modest membership and course fees are required, there are no course prerequisites or mandatory assignments — just a relaxed, casual atmosphere and the opportunity to have fun, learn and enjoy.

For information on upcoming programs visit the Lifelong Learners or call 203-256-3166.

The Bigelow Center for Senior Activities is accessible to people using assistive devices.  Transportation is available to Fairfield residents during the day by calling 203-256-3168 a few days in advance.
