Readers Theater: The Pavilion takes shape

This years staged reading by the Easton Arts Council, The Pavilion by Craig Wright, was praised by critics as an “Our Town for our time.” The one-night special reading will take place on Saturday, April 1, at 8 p.m. at the Easton Public Library, 691 Morehouse Road.

The play is by turns poetic and comedic, romantic and philosophical. The show focuses on Peter and Kari as they return for their 20-year high school reunion. Peter dreams of winning back Kari, the high school girlfriend whom he left behind after an unexpected pregnancy ended their relationship.

The narrator and the other performers propel the story, creating the universe that Peter and Kari inhabit.

Director Kit Briner will also appear as the show’s narrator. Taking on the role of Peter is Dennis Jackson of Trumbull. Claire Wilkes of Easton will play Kari.

The supporting cast includes Easton’s Kit Briner, Colleen Callahan, Geri Gould, April Lichtman and John Traggianese; and Bridgeport’s Jeanette Harris, Brookfield’s Daniel J. Mulvihill and Fairfield’s Michael King.

The audience is invited to attend a reception following the performance for informal discussion and “above average refreshments,” Briner said.

Voluntary donations of any amount to the Easton Arts Council will be gratefully accepted. For further information contact Kit Briner at [email protected] or 203-261-9264.

Claire Wilkes and Dennis Jackson rehearse a scene from the Easton Arts Council's Readers Theater presentation of The Pavilion by Craig Wright, taking place on Saturday April 1, at 8 p.m. in the community room of The Easton Public Library.
