Fairfield’s legislators address boards of finance/selectmen on state budget impact

The Fairfield State Delegation will address the state budget crisis and its potential impact on the Town of Fairfield at the first Board of Finance/Board of Selectmen budget hearing on Wednesday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m., at 501 Kings Highway East, Seminar Room 295 A&B.

State Senator Tony Hwang, State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey, State Representative Brenda Kupchick, and State Representative Laura Devlin will speak for the first 45 minutes of the meeting and address any questions or comments from the Boards of Finance and Selectmen. The First Selectman’s annual budget presentation will follow immediately after.

Board of Finance Chair Tom Flynn, who has served on the board for the past 12 years, stated, “With the support of my Board, I have reached out to our State Delegation to invite them to the Town’s first public budget meeting because of the highly unusual and very difficult budget year ahead of us. The Delegation’s attendance is unprecedented since this will be the first time they have ever been asked to appear before one of these joint budget meetings.”
